As the Boston Bruins celebrate their centennial season in the NHL, they recently unveiled their "Historic 100" list, honoring players who've worn the Spoked-B. But what's stirred controversy is the list of bench bosses who've guided the team over the years. Here are some key figures and their contributions:

Don Cherry: Although Cherry didn't secure a Stanley Cup, he led the Bruins to four straight Adams Division titles in the late '70s and two trips to the Cup finals. He won the Jack Adams Award in 1976.

Bruce Cassidy: In his second season, Cassidy steered the Bruins to a Stanley Cup Final in 2019, narrowly missing the championship. He's been a consistent performer with a record of 245-108-46.

Harry Sinden: Before his 28-year tenure as the Bruins' general manager, Sinden coached Boston to their first Stanley Cup victory in 29 years in 1970.

Art Ross: Ross was instrumental in the Bruins' first two Stanley Cup championships in 1929 and 1939 as a coach and later led the team to their third title in 1941 while serving as the general manager. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983.

Claude Julien: As the winningest coach in Bruins history, Julien guided the team to their first Stanley Cup win in 39 years in 2011. During his 10-year tenure, the Bruins made two Cup Final appearances.

Honorable mentions: Terry O'Reilly and Mike Milbury, who both played for the Bruins and later served as head coaches, notably taking the team to the Stanley Cup Final.

Jim Montgomery, with his successful stint in 2022-23, might join this esteemed list in the future if the Bruins continue to thrive under his leadership.
