David Pastrnak shows his true colours after calling out the Boston Bruins
The Boston Bruins have had a dismal start to the 2024-2025 regular season, as they're 2-2-0 om 4 games.
They've lost both games against the Florida Panthers, which shows a particular weakness the Panthers and Paul Maurice continue to exploit, even after a hard-fought 2nd round in 2024.
Their play has been so bad that only the fourth line produced against the Florida Panthers, during their 4-3 loss to the Cats this week.
This prompted David Pastrnak to call out the team in local media, as he felt they weren't playing the kind of hockey they should, as Bruins.
David Pastrnak on the #NHLBruins start to the season: "We haven't played our best hockey yet, but we're still in a pretty good spot...we just have to make sure we're getting better every game."
Honestly, the Bruins are 5th in the Eastern Conference a pitiful ranking for such a difficult division.
This is unlike the Bruins who usually are competitive right out of the gate, but lineup troubles have caused issues this season.
With the Don Sweeney and Jeremy Swayman holdout, partially to blame, the Bruins gave up the 1st loss of the season on October 8th against the rival Florida Panthers.
Korpisalo would give up 6 goals on 35 shots, with a .829 save percentage in the season opener.
This gives us an idea of the work Bob Essensa has in front of him, should Korpisalo begin to be a serviceable backup yet again.
All the while, Montgomery has made the Bruins competitive and kept them fighting the last two seasons, even earning a Presidents Trophy in 2022-2023.
But realistically, the Bruins are only as good as they have been built, and it's not hard to agree they have played their best.
But it's more than just that, it's a structural failure, of the organization to keep the top-six flush with good talent, all the while the defense continues to be glaringly weak, despite how tall they all are.
