Don Sweeney Fired? Boston Bruins CEO Charlie Jacobs Just Confirmed His Fate Going Forward
Boston Bruins CEO Charlie Jacobs just confirmed Don Sweeney and Cam Neely's fate with the Boston Bruins organization going forward.
The Boston Bruins thought after the moves and signings they made in the off-season, they were going to be a more competitive team this season, but that has not been the case at all.
The Bruins made some big signings in the off-season, bringing in Nikita Zadorov, and Elias Lindholm, but they also made some interesting choices. One big one was letting Jake DeBrusk walk in free agency, and ultimately signed with the Vancouver Canucks.
It's become evident how big of a mistake this has been by Don Sweeney to let DeBrusk walk, as now they are going to be looking for a player like him at the trade deadline. DeBrusk leads the Vancouver Canucks in goals with 17 on the year and has a total of 29 points in 43 games.
He would be second on the Bruins in scoring right behind David Pastrnak who leads the Boston Bruins with 20 goals.
Sweeney made a last ditch effort to save his job mid-November when the Boston Bruins fired head coach Jim Montgomery. Instead of taking blame for building a terrible Bruins team in the off-season, Sweeney pointed the finger to Jim Montgomery.
Many fans have expressed throughout the year that it is time for the Boston Bruins to get rid of Don Sweeney and Cam Neely.
Now Boston Bruins CEO Charlie Jacobs has spoken on Don Sweeney, and Cam Neely's fate with the Bruins going forward.
Jacobs stated that he has faith in both Don Sweeney and Cam Neely, and that they will both make the right decisions for the Bruins organization.
Charlie Jacobs on Don Sweeney & Cam Neely:
"I have faith that they'll make the right decisions. I don't have the playbook for that. I have faith that they will make those decisions."
