Nick Foligno, a former Boston Bruins player and the captain of the Blackhawks is set to face punishment for having some choice words about NHL refs.

The Chicago Blackhawks took a tough 4-3 loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday night at the United Center, marking their second straight defeat. The game left many fans and players frustrated, especially after a crucial missed penalty call.

Captain Nick Foligno was vocal about it after the game.

The Canucks' fourth goal came at a controversial moment when they had seven players on the ice, which should've resulted in a too many men penalty.

However, the referees didn't make the call, leaving Foligno upset. He didn't hold back when asked about the incident, saying:

«They screwed up. They know that. I just don't understand why they all were seeing it and they didn't want to call it at the time,» Foligno shared. «That was the only thing, and I just didn't like his response at the time. But he owned it after.»

A clip shared by Blackhawks radio host Charlie Roumeliotis confirmed the missed call, clearly showing Vancouver with seven skaters on the ice during the play.

Foligno also expressed disappointment in how the missed call affected the game's momentum, especially when the Canucks scored with seven players. He also wasn't happy with how his own line performed, admitting:

«Especially our line, we pride ourselves on starting on time, and we didn't get the job done on the first shift. It's disappointing on my end and just as a team because it sets the tone for a lot of the game. I didn't think we had any emotion after that.»

Despite goals from three former Boston Bruins players in Ryan Donato, Taylor Hall, and Tyler Bertuzzi, the Blackhawks couldn't come back and will now prepare to face the Nashville Predators on Friday.
