The St. Louis Blues made a notable move by signing former Boston Bruins forward Nick Ritchie to a professional tryout (PTO), as announced on Thursday.

Ritchie's NHL journey began when he was drafted 10th overall by the Anaheim Ducks in the 2014 draft. He spent five seasons with the Ducks before being traded to the Bruins in February 2020 in exchange for Danton Heinen.

During his time in Boston, the 27-year-old forward played 63 games, tallying 28 points, which included 16 goals and 12 assists. He averaged 15:05 minutes of ice time. Following his tenure with the Bruins, Ritchie signed a two-year deal with the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Ritchie's NHL career has seen him wear the jerseys of multiple teams, including the Anaheim Ducks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Arizona Coyotes, and Calgary Flames. Over eight seasons, he's participated in 481 games, scoring 84 goals and providing 102 assists for a total of 186 career points.

In a unique twist, Ritchie made NHL history in March when he and his brother, Brett Ritchie, were traded for each other, marking the first time a trade involved siblings. Brett Ritchie also had a brief stint with the Boston Bruins in the 2019-20 season, playing 27 games and registering two goals and four assists.

According to George Richards of Florida Hockey Now, the Florida Panthers are expected to sign Brett Ritchie to a professional tryout as well, just before their training camp commences on September 20. Brett Ritchie boasts a career spanning nine seasons, during which he played for four teams Boston, Arizona, Calgary, and the Dallas Stars and accumulated 50 goals and 35 assists in 391 NHL games.
