Calgary Flames' general manager, Craig Conroy, has faced considerable challenges in his inaugural year on the job. Notably, he's already orchestrated trades involving Tyler Toffoli and Nikita Zadorov. Now, Conroy might find himself compelled to make a strategic move in response to a reported injury to starting goaltender Jakob Markstrom during today's practice.

The incident unfolded when Markstrom took a shot on an unprotected part of his blocker, prompting him to exit the ice while favoring his right hand and displaying signs of being bloodied.

Markstrom's performance this season has been less than stellar, amassing a 6-8-2 record in 2023, with a 2.73 goals-against-average and a .909 save percentage.

With backup Dan Vladar poised to assume the starting role, the Flames could contemplate calling up third-string goaltender Dustin Wolf from the American Hockey League affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers. The impending matchup against the resurgent Minnesota Wild awaits the Flames tomorrow night at the Scotiabank Saddledome, kicking off at 9:00 PM EST.
