After game one of the Four Nations tournament that saw Canada take on Sweden, Brad Marchand and Team Canada received some terrible news regarding defenseman Shea Theodore.
Head coach Jon Cooper stated that Shea Theodore suffered an injury that will cause him to miss the rest of the tournament, and now Team USA is in a similar position.
Yesterday, Team USA finally broke their losing streak against Team Canada after beating them 3-1 and clinching their spot in the finals, but it came at a cost.
Following their win against Canada, USA head coach Mike Sullivan announced some heartbreaking news regarding one of their stars that could effect the rest of the tournament for the team.
Mike Sullivan announced that Matthew Tkachuk has been announced as out with a lower-body injury.
It's unsure when the injury was suffered by tkachuk, but he only had 3 shifts in the third period, with his last one coming with 12 minutes left in the game. He appeared to be favouring his leg when skating to the bench and during the final TV timeouts.
Although, after the game, Tkachuk stated that there is "no concern" regarding his injury.
It will be interesting to see if USA opts to rest him Monday when they faceoff against Sweden. Losing Tkachuk could change the outcome of how this tournament ends for Team USA.
