This trade proposal from CapWages@X has the Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs making a massive 1-for-1 trade involving two-star players.
Hint: It includes Mitch Marner:
CapWages proposal is wild, trading Charlie McAvoy, a top-pairing defenseman for Mitch Marner, a 95+ winger in a 1-for-1 trade.
While McAvoy was a player the Maple Leafs liked, they wouldn't pass up drafting Auston Matthews with the top pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. However, there was a time, when the Leafs were in the market for him, before he emerged as a perennial Norris Trophy candidate.
While this is an amazing idea, the Bruins would never swap McAvoy for Marner, as it would fill a need both teams need and ironically leave holes in their absence.
McAvoy's status as a top-5 defenseman in the league makes this trade a non-starter, even if the team needs scoring help.
McAvoy is too valuable, as a hard-nosed, two-way defenseman who eats minutes like Cheerios.
If the Bruins traded for Marner, who could be a cap casualty in the future, it's doubtful that McAvoy would be the one who'd be moved.
