A Boston Bruins insider revealed that the Boston Bruins may be shopping one of their top prospects ahead of the NHL trade deadline in hopes for a big return that could help their retool.
This season has been filled with ups, and downs for the Boston Bruins. Coming into the year, the team and organization had high hopes to be more competitive then last year, but it has not worked out.
Don Sweeney signed Elias Lindholm in the off-season to a massive contract, and believed that would solve their problem down the middle since losing Patrice Bergeron, but that's not even close to what happened.
Lindholm has not proven anything in his first year with the Boston Bruins, and now the team is looking to sell at the NHL trade deadine.
Now a Bruins insider has suggested that the Boston Bruins may be trying to showcase one of their top prospects and trade him ahead of the deadline.
Bruins Looking To Move Merkulov
According to PuckEmpire on Instagram, Boston Bruins insider Mark Allred reported that the Boston Bruins may be trying to showcase Georgii Merkulov in the NHL to try and trade him.

Recently the Boston Bruins recalled Merkulov, Viel, and Mitchell. Mitchell has since been sent back down to the Providence Bruins, but Merkulov and Viel are still with the Boston Bruins.
Merkulov is one of the Bruins top prospects, although they haven't really given him a chance in the NHL this season until now.
With Brad Marchand being out with an injury, Merkulov has been placed in his spot on the top line, and now is getting the chance to prove himself.
Merkulov has torn up the AHL this season having 13 goals, and 44 points in 47 games, but hasn't been able to transition that into the NHL as he has played five games with the Bruins and has just one assist.
