Jake Guentzel will be one of the most sought after free agents in the market this off-season and is ranked second-best by David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period.
It still hasn't been ruled out that Guentzel may return to Carolina, but he is expected to explore his opportunities in the free agent market. This would be a perfect fit for the Boston Bruins, as they are looking for secondary scoring plus Guentzel has 2 Stanley Cups under his belt during his time with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Guentzel has hit the 40 goal mark multiple times in his career and if he didn't miss a month due to injury this year he more than likely would have hit it again, but he ended up finishing the season with 30 goals, 47 assists and 77 points in 67 games split between the Penguins and Hurricanes.
Recent reports have suggested that Jake Guentzel may be looking for somewhere around $9.5 million on a max-term contract and that is where Don Sweeney comes in.
The Boston Bruins have the cap space this off-season to make a big move like this and really improve the team heading into next year, Guentzel is an elite player and you don't often see them hit the open market. If the Bruins are keeping to their word about being aggressive in the off-season, they have to take a swing at acquiring Jake Guentzel.
