Matthew Poitras has emerged as a standout prospect during the Boston Bruins' training camp. Despite being just 19 years old and on the lighter side, he's shown impressive skills, especially in controlling the puck and making plays.

While he hasn't faced a full NHL lineup yet, Poitras is making a strong case to be a top-two center.

Coach Jim Montgomery praised Poitras for his poise and smart plays in a recent preseason game.

With the departures of key players like David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron, Poitras could be a contender for the No. 2 center position, possibly playing between Brad Marchand and Jake DeBrusk, who are known for their offensive abilities.

However, it's not a done deal for Poitras, as he can play up to nine NHL games this season before using his entry-level contract. If he's not quite ready, he may return to the OHL's Guelph Storm.
