For the first time in almost a decade and a half, the Boston Bruins will be without former captain Patrice Bergeron, requiring the search for a new leader in the locker room.
Brad Marchand, David Pastrnak, Charlie McAvoy, and a few others stand out as the clear front-runners. In a recent interview, head coach Jim Montgomery of the Bruins was questioned regarding the choice of a captain for the upcoming 20232024 campaign.
"I think we are trending in the right direction towards having someone be our captain [in 2023-24]. We've had internal conversations...I don't know if there's a timeline on that yet." Montgomery said.
The official announcement of a new captain has no "set" date, but the Bruins' management will closely monitor the candidates throughout training camp and the early stagesof the regular season.
It isn't a matter of if any more it is a matter of when and who, it is just a waiting game.
