Boston Bruins head coach, Jim Montgomery just revealed why Brad Marchand left last night's game against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Boston Bruins captain, Brad Marchand along with a couple other players were making their debut last night, but for the captain, it would be short-lived.

During the game yesterday, Brad Marchand only saw a little over four minutes of ice time during his preseason debut, before leaving the game and not returning.

UPDATE: Brad Marchand (illness) is questionable to return to tonight's game.

Thankfully, the reason he left was due to an illness, and had nothing to do with the three surgeries he underwent in the off-season.

Following the Boston Bruins 4-1 win against the Philadelphia Flyers, Boston Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery provided an update on the captain.

"He wasn't feeling good two days ago, and when he showed up this morning, he felt good," Montgomery told reporters. "Maybe it came back; 24-hour bug, now a 12-hour bug. He'll be fine."

This was definitely the right thing for the Boston Bruins to do, as they are slated for their season opener against the Florida Panthers on October 8th, and having Brad Marchand fully healthy for that means more then him playing in a preseason game.

There are still two more opportunities that Brad Marchand can play in a game before the regular season starts, and I'm sure we will see him in action for one of those.
