The news is incredible considering how punishing both the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers were to the Bruins. Several prominent players including Bruins Captain Brad Marchand had sustained an upper body injury that kept him out for several games.
Other Bruins were also walking wounded and had to miss some time throughout the playoffs. General manager Don Sweeney will be assessing his team throughout the summer and making decisions on what he would like to do going forward.
The team has decisions to make regarding salaries especially in their goaltending with Jeremy Swayman and emerging as the clear #1 goaltender. With Linus Ullmark having a $5,000,000 cap hit next season and the emergence of goalie prospect Brandon Bussi preparing to push for a job in the NHL will certainly give Sweeney a chance to move Ullmark to another team to replenish his assets.
The biggest position the team will need to fill will be down the middle as it was noticeable throughout the playoffs as the team had a hard time scoring. With no major surgeries an injury that will likely heal quickly, the Bruins should have a healthy lineup as they prepare for the offseason training and then training camp which will begin in September.
