Trade Set: The Bruins May Have A Trade In Place For This Forward

The Boston Bruins need to improve their roster and find secondary scoring in the NHL. But in order to improve, they will need to trade some assets, in order to remain challengers to the Florida Panthers, and Toronto Maple Leafs in the Atlantic Division.
The Bruins need to address multiple areas on the ice, despite the improved record under Head Coach Joe Sacco.
The team's power play is 31st in the NHL, and despite the 8-2-3 record in the last 13 games, there are still holes in the lineup.
That hole is on the top six, and in the defense, and moving a player like
Trent Frederic could yield assets that could improve the Bruins as a whole.
The Bruins have long been a team that demonstrates its physical edge with tough play in the corners and a willingness to engage in physical battles. Frederic has taken the baton from the team's most physical players in the past, including Zdeno Chara, Shawn Thornton and Milan Lucic, but he is struggling to assert himself this year.
Frederic has been a disappointment this season, scoring only 11 points( 5 G, 6 A) in 36 games. With a decline in production, last season he set a career-high with 40 points( 18 G, 22 A).
Now, with several teams interested in the gritty forward, could he be traded soon?
«He's the kind of player playoff teams are going to want,» Friedman said. «He's a good teammate, he's competitive he's a very popular teammate and willing combatant.»
Frederic's comparables in the NHL are
Tom Wilson, except he's yet to develop his scoring that could match the Capitals top-six forward.
There's continued interest in the forward as reported by NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman.
«Whatever the Bruins intentions are here,» Friedman said. «They are getting a lot of calls about him.»
He could prove to be a valuable rental for a team that will find themselves in the post-season, as negotiations seem to have stalled with Frederic and the team.
Trent Frederic has the perfect skillset for the Bruins culture, but there doesn't appear to be any active contract negotiations. Frederic is in the final year of his deal at $2.5 million and eligible for an extension
Teams like the Colorado Avalanche, and New Jersey Devils could benefit from a gritty, top-nine forward like Frederic.
Do you think GM Don Sweeney deals him at the trade deadline?
