NESN posted on X a video of Brad Marchand shopping at Target. The woman dropped something on the floor and Marchand picked it up for them. However, the NESN media team put the Capitals logo over the woman and an 'L' over the item she dropped, and Marchand handed the 'L' to her. The post also read, «Merry Christmas, capitaLs.»
That's a funny, but a little immature post by NESN, considering they televise all Bruins games and in some ways represent the franchise.
The Bruins beat the Capitals 4-1 in dominating fashion; the Caps never had a chance. Justin Brazeau, Elias Lindholm, Charlie Coyle, and Brad Marchand all scored goals. Brazeau's was on the power play and Marchand sealed the deal with the empty net goal. They also beat Washington in every stat but the penalty kill, as Jakub Vrana netted a power play goal for the Capitals.
The Bruins picked it up over the year and are now 19-13-4 with 42 points through the holiday break and are third in the Atlantic, sixth in the Eastern Conference, and twelfth in the whole league. If the season ended today, they'd be in the playoffs.
The Bruins need to keep this momentum going as the Eastern Conference is a close battle and it's still anyone's ballgame. David Pastrnak, in particular, needs to keep the wheels churning as ever since Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci left, Pastrnak by default is now one of, if not the locker room leader.
Boston's next game is on Friday, December 27, against the Columbus Blue Jackets in Columbus.
