Boston Bruins head coach Joe Sacco issued an update regarding David Pastrnak's injury causing him to leave their game vs the Washington Capitals.
Heading into their game, the Bruins were ready for one of their biggest tests of the year facing the second best team in the league, and they did not let fans down.
The Bruins ended up dominating the Capitals, beating them 4-1 at TD Garden, and they did so without their best goal scorer in David Pastrnak, who ended up leaving the game.
Bruins superstar David Pastrnak ended up leaving the second period with 8:38 left with an upper-body injury. In the period and a half Pastrnak ended up playing, he would log 9:00 of ice time across 12 shifts, and would not return to the game.
Boston Bruins head coach Joe Sacco did not have an exact answer to what happened when speaking to the media following the Bruins win but this is what he had to say about the situation:
The hit did not look bad, it looked like a normal collision that happens multiple times a game, but there is speculation that Pastrnak was already dealing with a lingering issue and this just made it worse.
Take a look at the hit:
The Bruins could have just held Pastrnak out for cautionary reasons since the team is on their holiday break until Friday, and losing Pastrnak long-term could ruin the season for the Bruins.
David Pastrnak leads the Bruins in points with 35, and assists with 23 in 35 games this season, and is only trailing Brad Marchand in goals as Marchand has 14 and Pastrnak has 12 on the season.
The Bruins are back in action in three days after the holiday break on Friday night when they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets, and are hopeful to have Pastrnak in the lineup with them.
