It is confirmed for Capitals star Alex Ovechkin and it's sad
It is confirmed that the end of an era is here as Alex Ovechkin will be leaving the NHL.
Alex Ovechkin confirmed it himself that he will leaving the NHL at some point to finish his career with his hometown team the Dynamo Moskva. When this does happen it really will be the end of an era as Ovechkin and Crosby aren't getting younger and have both been the face of the NHL since entering the league.
When this will happen we aren't sure as everyone knows that Ovechkin is still chasing Wayne Gretzky's goal scoring record. He is currently signed for 2 more years and likely won't call it a career till he passes Gretzky's scoring record.
Ovechkin's former coach for the Dynamo Moskav confirmed this rumour that Ovechkin will be finishing his career in Russia in a statement.
'He said himself that he would finish his career in Dynamo... the white-and-blue fans can definitely sleep easy. If Alexander's health is good, he will be able to play until the age of 45.'
Even though we don't know exactly when Ovechkin will decide to go back to Russia to finish his career, everyone should enjoy these last couple years which could be it for one of the best goal scorers we have ever witnessed play the game.
