We have good news for Boston Bruins fans, as yesterday the Bruins held practice.

We had heard last that Marchand went through multiple surgeries, repairing injuries that were plaguing him.

It was only recently that he had returned to skating and we had no idea of when he'd be practicing with the Bruins again.

Fortunately, it was reported yesterday that Marchand had skated during practice yesterday morning.

He flanked Charlie Coyle, with Morgan Geekie on the right wing.

But during practice, he would wear a non-contact jersey, which is not uncommon while a player is recovering from an injury or as Marchand goes injuries.

Marchand was recently given the Captain's "C" and following Patrice Bergeron's retirement will lead the Bruins until he can't.

Marchand, who is recovering from elbow, groin and abdominal surgery, seems to be making solid progress ahead of the 2024-25 season. The 36-year-old is expected to be ready for the start of the season, but he may be eased back into action as he returns to full strength. Marchand's production slightly dipped in 2023-24 in comparison to previous years, but Boston's captain still banked 67 points and didn't miss a single regular-season contest.

If he fully recovers before the beginning of the season, the Bruins need Marchand to keep up with the same production from 2023-2024 or do better if they're to secure a trip to the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Marchand is one of the Bruins' best forwards, and he will have to play beyond his own standards, while the Bruins have to rely on younger forwards who trickle into the lineup.

The Bruins have enough prospects to keep the lineup fresh, but at one point you need every capable body, whose got playoff seasoning to keep the team fighting beyond 82 games, and into the 3rd round and beyond if they're to secure the ultimate prize.

It's not so simple as running it back like the Toronto Maple Leafs do every year, as the Bruins are cash-strapped.

But at least, the Bruins make it past the 1st round yearly.
