Major news surfaced regarding this Bruins player and it's now confirmed
Earlier today, reports surfaced from Chris Johnston of the Athletic that Bruins defenseman Matt Grzelcyk will not be re-signed by the Bruins this summer.
Head coach Jim Montgomery had lost all confidence in Grzelcyk as he was scratched after playing the first three games of the Toronto Maple Leafs series. Soon afterwards he had missed the remaining ten playoff games for the Bruins. He had a total of 0 points and was a +0.
He was drafted by the Bruins in 2012, in the third round, 85th overall. Native to the Boston area he expressed during a media scrum on how it was a dream come true to play for the Bruins as he grew up around the team.
This season he also saw a huge decline in his numbers as he played 63 games, scored two goals, 9 assists for 11 points and was a + 13.
Having completed his four-year $14.75 million contract, it's likely that other teams will call his agent but will be seeking a discount as he will likely be in the bottom 3
defensive pairings.
Grzelyck and his agent will be waiting for July 1st to see who will call and what may be offered.
