The Boston Bruins have drawn interest for power forward Trent Frederic. One of them is the rival club, the Montreal Canadiens.

"Fight Night Freddy" as they call him in Boston, is on a deal that is set to expire at the end of 2024-2025. Several teams have shown interest in the forward who took a leap forward in 2022-2023.

Frederic is a gritty, physical forward who would excite fans, coaches, and GMs with his old-school style of play.

Kevin Weekes recently reported that the 26-year-old forward is drawing attention from other teams, particularly those looking to add grit and physical presence to their lineups.

Frederic is currently earning $2.3 Million AAV and has only scored 3 points( 1 G, 2 A) in 14 games. Like many in the Bruins organization, they're underperforming significantly.

Even then he's still managed to provide 43 hits, the second-highest hitter on the roster, and registered 13:40 TOI per game.

He would make a great bottom-six option for many teams rebuilding, or contending.

How Could Frederic Fit in Montreal?

Frederic would provide the Canadiens some grit in the lineup, as they strive to be difficult to play against. While they have all the skilled help they need in the top-six arguably. They could use a forward who could drop the gloves, score goals, and hit everything that moves.

Montreal's need for a physical forward is well-documented, and Frederic's ability to forecheck, create turnovers, and add pressure could give the Canadiens exactly the type of bottom-six presence they're seeking. Adding Frederic to the lineup would likely enhance their team dynamics, providing a tougher presence against their Atlantic Division rivals.
While it may not be ideal for the Bruins to part ways with Frederic, since he is on an expiring contract, they could trade him and he could serve as a rental for the Habs, or wherever else he could land.

If he does end up being traded to a divisional rival, Sweeney would do his best to get all he can out of the Montreal Canadiens.
