The Boston Bruins have not had a good time finding consistency so far during the 2024-25 season. This off-season the Bruins added a bunch of players through free agency that they thought would help, and mesh well with the team, but they have a 6-7-1 record in 14 games this season.
The biggest area the Boston Bruins have struggled in, has been finding chemistry with their forward lines. The Boston Bruins just signed two-time Stanley Cup Champion Tyler Johnson to a one-year contract on Monday, the next day they waived off-season signee in Max Jones.
The NHL had free reign to claim Max Jones after being placed on waivers, but today it was announced that the 26-year-old was not claimed, and will now head to the Bruins American Hockey League affiliate, the Providence Bruins.
Max Jones signed with the Boston Bruins during the first day of free agency to a two-year $2 million deal, after playing his whole professional career with the Anaheim Ducks. Jones has appeared in 262 games in the NHL and has just 62 points, as he has struggled with injuries and inconsistencies.
Max Jones has not impressed the Bruins so far this season, hence the reason they are sending him down to Providence to try and get him to find his game, and also gain some confidence.
In four games with the Boston Bruins so far this year Jones has 0 points, and is a -4 in 11:13 minutes of ice time.
Jones has a better chance to learn the Bruins system in Providence as well as he will be provided more ice time.
