Ahead of game one between Boston and Florida, Panthers' MVP Matthew Tkachuk shared with media what it will take to beat this historic Bruins team in round one.
Although he spends his time on the ice, attempting to get under his opponent's skin, Tkachuk shared respect for his upcoming oppontent's.
Respect or Mind Games?
Tkachuk met with media in Boston this afternoon and discussed the challenge his team faces matching up against the Presidents' Trophy-winning Bruins.
''It's going to take pretty much a perfect effort to win one game in the series against everything they have over there, with the season they've had.''
'I think everybody knows they've had the best season in NHL history, so it's a great challenge for our team.''
However, Tkachuk also noted how he doesn't see the Panthers as underdogs, per se, but a chance to accomplish something special. Even though it will take a perfect effort to win perhaps only one game.
'It's probably more spoiler at this point.''
'I don't even know if 'underdog' is a right phrase for us right now, going against that talent and everything they've done this year over there. We have our hands full. We got to play very, very, very well -- if not perfect -- to win a game [in this series].''
Tkachuk, 25, improved on his career-year with the Calgary Flames last season, and collected a new high of 109 points in 79 games for the Panthers.
Aside from the overall matchup, another one to watch is that of Tkachuk and Brad Marchand. The two star forward could possibly match up all series long, while they both enjoy the chirping and pest part of the game.
