In 2009-10 the Philadelphia Flyers who barely scraped their way into the Playoffs, went up against the hungry Boston Bruins in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals.

This series seemed to be over and done with, as the Bruins manhandled the Flyers and took an astounding three to nothing lead. But the Philadelphia Flyers did the unthinkable, coming back to force a game seven. Which the Flyers would go on to win, becoming the third team in NHL history to comeback from such deficit.

Milan Lucic former Boston Bruin, who was on the 2009-10 roster. Believes without the struggles and defeat in the 2010 playoffs, the team wouldn't have been as successful the year prior. Lucic was a guest on the Nasty Knuckles Podcast and addressed the Bruins 2010-2011 last to first seasons and said, «I don't think we win in 2011 unless we go through 2010.»

The former Bruin also added in the fact that Mike Richards and Simon Gagne were a big part in the Flyers success saying, «To be honest when Mike Richards hit David Krejci and put him out, then you guys got Simon (Gagne) back. So you take away our best center and you guys get one of your best wingers back He (Gagne) scored like 4 goals in the 5 games he played or something like that.»

In game four with the Flyers on the brink of elimination, the Bruins took a quick 3-0 lead in the 1st period. But Philadelphia would prevail again as the big difference was Micheal Leighton coming in for an injured Brian Boucher, who would go down with injuries in both of his knees after Flyers defenseman Ryan Parent and Bruins forward Miroslav Satan fell on top of him. Simon Gagne would end the game in overtime with a final score 4-3, sending the series back to Boston. The Bruins weren't nervous at all after the game four loss, as Lucic made it sound like they sort of brushed it off saying, «we will get em in game 5 at home.»

Which wasn't the case, as the Flyers forced game seven. Which was a memorable game for Milan Lucic, as he scored the games first two goals. The Bruins would go up 3-0, but the Flyers would just not go away, scoring one to cut the lead to two in the first. Lucic said, «I'm going f*ck, now there's some hope on that side.» Of course that was the case, Philadelphia ran with hope and Simon Gagne ended up scoring a power play goal, that would be the series winner and the Flyers would advance. Milan added, «The best thing that came out of that was that our management team didn't blow it up, and didn't fire the coach. They made one trade, everything else stayed the same like I said 2011 for us doesn't happen, us being champions doesn't happen without going through what happened in 2010.»
