The Boston Bruins are getting ready to begin their road trip against the St. Louis Blues, and head coach Jim Montgomery just made a controversial move.

During morning skate on Monday it was revealed that Jim Montgomery was making Matt Poitras a healthy scratch for their game against the St. Louis Blues, and also revealed that Morgan Geekie will be taking his place in the lineup.

giving Geekie top line minutes over this guy is definitely a choice

The move to healthy scratch Matt Poitras in the first place has not been sitting well with Bruins fans.

Hard to make more plays from the 9th floor. Healthy scratching one of our most consistent 5v5 guys is a weird strategy

Jim Montgomery was asked why Matt Poitras was coming out of the lineup and the respond Montgomery gave is pretty controversial.

Here is what Montgomery had to say:

Asked about Poitras coming out, Montgomery says he wants to see him making «more of an impact on the game, making more plays, understanding our structure.»

Matt Poitras has been one of the Bruins best and most consistent 5v5 players this year, as well as being reliable in the faceoff dot as well. Although his production has not been where Montgomery may believe it should be, scratching him has definitely sparked some controversy.
