New Boston Bruins forward Tyler Johnson already receiving hate from Bruins fans
Tyler Johnson held out for a contract from a Stanley Cup contender, of which he didn't receive one. So now he walks into the Bruins training camp fighting for a spot, on a deeper roster this season.
Given his statement when before walking to free agency you'd think the Bruins fans would love his tenacity:
"That's where it's (playoffs) all at," Johnson said. "That's where I've always loved. I've always just wanted to be a part of that, and when you're not, especially the last few years here doing what we're doing, it's been pretty tough."
But it turns out, there's some deep hatred of Johnson it seems.
It seems like Bruins fans don't see his recent action in the past two seasons giving him the kind of ammo to add to the Bruins meaningfully.
Honestly, his best days are behind him and despite winning a Stanley Cup twice in Tampa Bay, he isn't the same player he was before he arrived in Chicago.
With players like Fabian Lysell, Georgii Merkyulov, and Matthew Poitras coming into the fold, he could be an insurance policy, but a long-term solution?
We'll see.
But he does deserve a fair shot in camp regardless of where he lands.
