Patrice Bergeron appeared in the 2023 playoffs for the first time in game five, and a big goal helped put the captain into great company.
Joining the Bruins Elite
After Brad Marchand accomplished the same feat earlier in the Bruins opening round series against the Panthers, Bergeron followed suit.
As the captain's third period tally to tie the game at three, was a special one. As per NHL Public Relations:
* Patrice Bergeron (50-78128 in 168 GP) pulled the Bruins even to record his 50th career goal in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. He became the third player in franchise history to score 50 postseason goals with the Bruins and the ninth active player to reach the milestone.
Bergeron now only trails his longtime linemate Marchand (53) and Cam Neely (55) for the most postseason goals in Bruins history.
It's really no surprise that the two guys that have led Boston to success time and time again, makeup two thirds of possibly the best playoff performers in franchise history.
