Patrick Maroon makes massive change after leaving the Boston Bruins
Before Patrick Maroon arrived in Boston, the #61 had last been worn by Rick Nash, now retired.
Rick Nash had his retirement ceremony in 2022-2023 and saw his #61 raised to the rafters in Columbus.
But before Nash(2018) and Maroon(2024), only 4 other Bruins players wore the number previously:
61
Bill Huard 1993
Marquis Mathieu 1999-2001
Byron Bitz 2009-2010
Craig Cunningham 2014-2015
Rick Nash 2018
Pat Maroon 2024
He has since decided to move on from #61:
And will now wear #77 in Chicago, who only Paul Coffey wore in 1999, and Kirby Dach wore in 2022.
77
Paul Coffey 1999
Kirby Dach 2020-2022
Maroon on the tail end of his career, which not achieve Coffey's legendary status, but has added some cups to his name prior to arriving in Minnesota, Boston, and now Chicago.
