The Boston Bruins and Jeremy Swayman have yet to resolve contract negotiations.

The team currently has $8.6 Million in cap space and will need to figure out how to pay Swayman, an AAV that feels matches his value for the team.

But every day, 24 more hours pass, and Swayman remains out of the net and out of uniform and the Bruins' situation looks less stable.

The idea that the Bruins could get great goaltending out of Brandon Bussi, or Joonas Korpisalo is proving to be wrong, as Bussi gave up 4 goals, on 32 shots in a 5-2 loss to the Rangers.

They have instead settled for subpar goaltending, which was glaringly obvious as Bussi let in two goals off of rebounds. He also was beaten over the glove twice in preseason play.

Legitimately, Bussi isn't NHL ready and neither is Michael DiPietro, who gave up three goals in a game and a half appearance as well.

It seems as if, Sweeney thinks that Joonas Korpisalo is the ace in the hole in contract negotiations.

Obviously, Korpisalo arguably isn't the same player who made 85 saves in 5 overtimes against the Tampa Bay Lightning. But apparently, Sweeney thinks he is!

Joonas Korpisalo did look good in his 30 minutes of action on Tuesday, it has to be noted. He only faced seven shots, but he stopped all of them and three or four were of the high-danger variety. He controlled rebounds and looked calm and composed in a way that Bussi and DiPietro have not.

That is encouraging when it comes to the question of whether or not Korpisalo can bounce back from a rough season in Ottawa and be a good backup to Swayman. Relying on Korpisalo to be a workhorse No. 1 for any period of time would still seem to be a shaky proposition, though. His best NHL seasons have come when he was in more of a platoon or backup role.

It's been reported by Ryan Whitney that $8-$8.2 Million could seal the deal between the Bruins and Swayman, but Sweeney has yet to cave into the goalie.

This means, he's created a real conundrum for the Bruins goalie depth and have left them exposed, and possibly for a mediocre finish in one of the toughest divisions in the NHL.
