This is according to Bruins Network who have been following Kuntar all the way back to his NCAA days. He has shown and he has been able to translate his skill set to each level of hockey from NCAA through AHL and now into the NHL preseason.
According to eliteprospects.com, the 23-year-old forward who stands at six foot and 196 lbs was drafted by the Bruins in 2020, third round, 89th overall. A top 10 scorer in the USHL, he also has a heavy shot that could beat goaltenders from any point in the offensive zone. He also holds a ability for physical play while using that ability to dig out pucks from the boards and passing them out.
Last season after moving into the AHL from the NCAA, he had played 70 games for the Providence Bruins well scoring ten goals with 10 assists for 20 points and had 113 penalty minutes.
It's clear that he will be fitted for a bottom 6 role, and many are pegging him to be on the 4th wine wing which would give the Bruins more size add more youth on their team. It remains to be seen if he ends up achieving a roster spot level on staying with the team for the first few weeks of the season.
In the end it will all fall on the shoulders of head coach Jim Montgomery and general manager Don Sweeney as they make sure they remain cap compliant as they continue to work towards a signing of goaltender Jeremy Swayman.
The Bruins next game will be at home and the Philadelphia Flyers will come to town and the game will take place on Tuesday October 1st at 7:00 PM eastern.
