Elliotte Friedman recently had a chat with Elias Pettersson about what lies ahead for him in Vancouver. Pettersson's focus is on getting ready for the upcoming season, so he's holding off on talks about a contract extension for now. Friedman clarified in an interview with NHL Network that this doesn't mean Pettersson wants to leave the team.

Friedman highlighted that Pettersson seems to want to see how the team will do before committing to a long-term deal. He mentioned, "Canucks fans, don't think he's leaving. That's not what I got from our talk. But he wants to make sure the team has a chance to win before he signs a long deal."

Jimmy Murphy from Boston Hockey Now dug into the Pettersson situation from the Bruins' perspective. This is especially important considering Elias Lindholm from the Calgary Flames might be available. Murphy suggested the Bruins are keeping an eye on both players, even if they start the season with their current roster.

Pettersson could be a good backup plan for the Bruins. They're on the lookout for a strong center presence since Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci retired. While Lindholm is their first choice if they can make a big move, Pettersson's youth and potential could make him a great alternative for the team.
