Must See: Brad Marchand Held Back Tears In Press Conference When Speaking About The Trade

Former Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand had a press conference with the Florida Panthers for the first time since being traded there, and he held back tears when speaking on the trade.
A media member brought up the trade, and Brad Marchand suddenly became very serious, and even had to collect himself at one point as he was overcome with emotions. Even though Marchand is now a member of the Florida Panthers, he made it clear that his desire was to remain with the Boston Bruins organization and expressed some frustration that a deal did not get done.
"I had an incredible run in that organization and I'm extremely proud," said Marchand pausing after being overwhelmed by his emotions.
Marchand continued, and it was clear at that moment he was not happy with the Boston Bruins front office.
"It was very disappointing that things didn't get done," admitted Marchand his voice cracking with pain. "Obviously I love the organization and I wanted to stay there."
Marchand did state that he knows it's a business and that anything could happen.
"At the end of the day I know this is a business and every player has a shelf life and regardless if that's when we want it to be or not, sometimes there are things out of our control that dictate situations."
Marchand did take some time to recognize Don Sweeney despite his disappointment that a deal could not be made.
"The one thing I always respect is that they have a job to do and they have to make the best decisions for the team," admitted Marchand. "Sometimes they work against you but that's why I believe that Sweens is one of, if not, the best general manager in the league."
Marchand then again would pause, as he was overcome by emotions once again and stated that he had no ill will towards the Boston Bruins or his former teammates.
"It's obviously not what you want to have happen but I don't hold that against him or the group," said Marchand his voice once again breaking with emotion.
