This summer, Bruins fans knew that one of the goaltenders were going to get traded, and with the way that Jeremy Swayman performed in the playoffs, many knew he would be their starting goaltender next year.
What fans didn't expect, was how quickly the Boston Bruins would trade Linus Ullmark.
Not long after the Boston Bruins were knocked out of the playoffs, did they end up pulling the trigger and sending Linus Ullmark to the Ottawa Senators and in return got their 25th overall pick, Joonas Korpisalo and Mark Kastlic.
Friday, Elliotte Friedman dropped a 32 Thoughts Podcast, and revealed that the Boston Bruins only traded Linus Ullmark before July 1st because he would have been able to change his no-trade clause after that.
If this wasn't the case, the Boston Bruins would have more than likely held on to Linus Ullmark until they at least signed Jeremy Swayman to a contract, so that they aren't in this situation that they are in currently.
Linus Ullmark now joins a young group with the Ottawa Senators and will look to bring them back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, something they haven't done since 2017 when they went to the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Boston Bruins need to move quick on signing goaltender Jeremy Swayman to a new deal as training camp is right around the corner, and the regular season will be here in the blink of an eye.
