Traded: Trent Frederic's Fate May Have Just Been Confirmed After The Boston Bruins Recent Signing
The Boston Bruins announced the signing of Mark Kastelic today, as they have extended the forward today. The extension was announced for three years, with a $1.567 Million cap hit today.
With news of Kastelic's extension, this leaves the Bruins with only $1.120 Million in salary cap space to work with.
And the lack of an extension for Trent Frederic could mean, that the Bruins will have to trade the forward come trade deadline in March.
That is, if GM Don Sweeney wants to get a return in assets for the Bruins' former first-round pick.
As expected, fans have already seen the next steps the team will have to take as they don't have enough to sign Frederic.
Frederic was selected 29th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 1st round of the 2016 NHL Draft.
He scored a career-high, 40 points last season(18 G, 22 A) and was expected to continue his production this season.
Yet like the rest of his teammates, has failed to continue the play that made them President's Trophy winners with Jim Montgomery only two seasons ago.
Since then, the team has hired Joe Sacco as Head Coach, and the team will have to find suitors for Trent Frederic, of which there should be many.
Frederic makes $2.3 Million AAV, and his contract will expire at the end of the season. His production has been dismal, scoring 11 points( 5 G, 6 A) in 39 games for the Bruins.
