Two Boston Bruins Players That Have Emerged As Trade Candidates
GM Don Sweeney of the Boston Bruins will have to make a major decision when the trade deadline rolls around. Will they re-tool the lineup closer to the playoffs when contending teams need good depth like Justin Brazeau and Trent Frederic?
According to NHL Insider Darren Dreger, the Boston Bruins are open for business as they have entered a slump under Head Coach Joe Sacco.
They have given up the last six of their seven games, as they defeated their rivals the Florida Panthers in a close Eastern Conference matchup.
For now, they continue to hold the 3rd spot in the Atlantic Division, but given how dynamic the NHL is, that could always change.
GM Don Sweeney will have to look into the Bruins cupboard to see what is available to be traded to upgrade the team.
Trent Frederic
One player the Bruins could utilize to gain some value at the trade deadline is Trent Frederic. Freddy embodies the spirit of the big-bad Bruins of the 1970s and plays a gritty and physical game.
He has an offensive upside which makes him an attractive option in March.
Justin Brazeau
Brazeau is another Bruins forward who can play a gritty game, give a team a net-front presence on the power-play and is a top scorer for the B's.
This season he's scored 18 points ( 10 G, 8 A) and has an affordable cap hit of only $1 Million AAV.
He could prove to be a good addition to contending teams who are bound for the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Brazeau, unlike Frederic, could fetch more value as he's currently deployed on L3 and Power-play Unit 1.
The Bruins will have to contend with some tough decisions as they re-tool the lineup as their playoff aspirations dwindle.
