The Ottawa Senators got some surprising news when it comes to Linus Ullmark and his injury status as he took a big step, and is heading in the right direction to return to action for the club.
Travis Green didn't have much to say about the former Boston Bruins goaltender after their skate on Friday at the Canadian Tire Centre, but he did state that Linus Ullmark made his first appearance on the ice since suffering his back injury before the holiday break on December 22nd.
Here is what Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green had to say about him returning to practice Friday:
It's not much, but it's definitely a big step in the right direction for Ullmark to get back into game form.
It was the first time he was skating since he left during the first period when the Ottawa Senators were taking on the Edmonton Oilers in their final game before the National Hockey League's mandated Christmas break, and has been listed as week-to-week ever since.
The Ottawa Senators have seriously struggled ever since losing Ullmark, as they had a 9-3-1 in the month of December, but lost six of their last seven games, and were on a four game losing streak before beating the Pittsburgh Penguins tonight.
In his last nine games before being injured, Linus Ullmark was 8-0-1 with a 1.48 goals against average, and a .952 save percentage.
