Zdeno Chara stepped onto the ice at Warrior Ice Arena for the first time as a retired Bruin, in early December 2022. Playing in the annual Nathan H. Hardy Memorial Alumni Game.

Zdeno Chara announced his retirement in November of 2022, playing in the Alumni Game -- which was held before the Boston Bruins matchup against the Colorado Avalanche at TD Garden.

Zdeno Chara got to play next to one of the all-time greats, Ray Bourque, and although it was just a charity game, Chara was honored. «Absolute honor,» Chara said per NHL.com, «Such a legend of the sport, for the city, for the organization. Even if it's just a charity game, a game for a good cause, it's such a privilege and honor to be on the same team with so many guys who played for a long time and did so many good things. Very humble about it.»

Zdeno Chara played his last ever game on April 29, and before the Alumni Game, he revealed he hadn't skated since then. But that didn't stop him from trying some new things during the game. Such as the infamous lacrosse goal, also known as the michigan. Done by young players all over the world, and players in the NHL like Trevor Zegras and Andrei Svechnikov who have scored several creative goals in their careers.
