Whether Jonathan Toews decided to continue his career or retire, the Chicago Blackhawks have made it clear that they will be moving on from their long time captain.

Now amongst all the rumours an interesting team has been looking into the veteran centermen. That team being the

Edmonton Oilers

.

It has been reported that the Oilers have had keen interest in the Blackhawks center, but have made it clear they would only sign him to a league minimum. Which stands at $750,000 USD, which is the minimum a player can make having signed a one-way contract with any of the 32 NHL teams.

Sportsnet's Mark Spector wrote that "there is some talk" in Edmonton over the idea of the Oilers signing Jonathan Toews to be their fourth-line center. Spector noted that this move would allow Derek Ryan to switch to right wing.

This move ultimately depends on whether or not Jonathan Toews will be healthy enough to continue playing or if he will have to call it quits. As well, despite Toews not being the same young stud he was five-years-ago it doesn't mean he won't be a successful vertan on the well oiled machine in Edmonton.
