The recent clash between the Edmonton Oilers and Minnesota Wild proved to be a contentious affair, featuring a controversial hit that many anticipated would result in fines or suspensions. However, recent developments indicate otherwise.

The focal point of the debate was a hit on the Wild's Jonas Brodin by Edmonton's Evander Kane. Kane maneuvered Brodin into the boards, leading to Brodin exiting the game due to injury, with no penalty called on the play. Ryan Hartman retaliated against Kane, earning himself a stint in the penalty box.

According to Wild reporter Michael Russo, no disciplinary action will be taken against Kane. Russo explains that Brodin was aware of the impending hit, had ample time to defend himself, but failed to do so effectively.

"Hearing no discipline coming to Evander Kane likely because Brodin shoulder checks and didn't protect himself despite the fact Evander Kane needlessly drives his head into the glass."

Russo also expressed frustration over the lack of a power play for the Wild and criticized the referees for penalizing Kane's reaction, putting the Wild at a numerical disadvantage that eventually led to the winning goal.

The potential absence of Brodin, given his recent performance, would be a significant setback for the Wild. The ongoing controversy adds an extra layer of intrigue to the aftermath of a game that clearly left an impact.
