The Florida Panthers had an empty net trailing 2-1 to the Ottawa Senators with just over a minute remaining in the game when Alexander Barkov, and Tim Stutzle got into a footrace, Barkov attempting to protect the empty net.
Barkov unfortunately lost the footrace to Stutzle, who ended up scoring his second goal of the game, and Barkov would end up falling feet-first into the boards.
Unfortunately for Barkov the collision did not look good and he ended up having to be helped off the ice by two teammates after the trainer came out to check on him.
Barkov immediately went down the tunnel after getting to the bench. Barkov has had some unfortunate luck with injuries over the past couple of years, and even though the Florida Panthers are a rival to the Boston Bruins, you don't wish this on anyone.
It was confirmed by head coach Paul Maurice that the Florida Panthers doctors are looking at him and evaluating his injury, and it's just a matter of time before we get an update on his status.
On a positive note for Boston Bruins fans, Linus Ullmark got his first win with the Ottawa Senators in his debut with the team after being traded there in the off-season by the Boston Bruins.
