It was just confirmed that Ryan Reaves is going to have a hearing today after his hit on Darnel Nurse, and more then likely will face a suspension.
Early Sunday morning NHL Player Safety announced that Reaves is set to have a hearing for his hit yesterday on Darnel Nurse. Due to Reaves being given a five minute penalty, it results in an automatic hearing from the league.
It looks like the hearing will be over the phone, meaning it more than likely will not be a big suspension, but it still could be. Many believed that Reaves should face a big suspension due to the severity of the hit on Nurse, but it doesn't seem like it's going to happen.
During the opening minutes of the second period between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers Reaves threw a nasty headshot hit on Nurse, and it was clear that he targeted the head.
Nurse was going around the net with the puck when Reaves threw a hit making all contact with his head.
Nurse tried to get back to his feet but clearly looked dazed, you could istantly see the damage done as he had a massive cut on his face leaking blood.
After watching the hit again you can see Nurse clearly hits his head off the ice hard, and this probably resulted in him cutting his face open.
Many fans have been vocal about this hit on social media, and this may play a part in how many games Reaves ends up getting.
A official report will be made later, stay tuned for further details.
