Finnish natives Aleksander Barkov and Patrik Laine are best friends, and while they don't share the same team, they share a passion for golf and charity.
In their fourth annual charity golf tournament, they raised over $100,000.00 for the Tampere Association for Persons with Intellectual Disabilities.
Barkov stated:
''It's getting bigger all the time''
''The first time, we didn't really know if it would last. You just lived in the moment. Now, it's becoming a tradition, not just for us but for the people who come to it. It does good things for the community in Finland and tries to help the people.''
In 2021, Laine & Barkov Charity Golf collected 139,794 for Hope Ry Tampere, and the proceeds were used for seasonal fees for sports activities for children of needy families with children without amortization. More than 400 families have received support for their children's sports activities from this amount, and support is still given to new families.
Some of the items included in the event involved signed jerseys from NHL stars, including Mikko Rantanen, Auston Matthews, and Barkov himself.
