The Columbus Blue Jackets are currently in last place in the National Hockey League with a record of 4-9-0 and 8 points, and things have just gotten worse for them.
The Blue Jackets have announced that they have lost star defenseman Zach Werenski for the remainder of the 2022-23 season. As per NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman:
''CLB announces Zach Werenski suffered a separated shoulder and a torn labrum. Expected to be out the rest of the season.''
Werenksi was tied for second on the Blue Jackets with three goals and five assists through the first 13 games of the season. The 2015 8th overall draft selection had a career year with 48 points in 68 games last season.
The defenseman injured his right shoulder this time but previously had off-season surgery on his left shoulder after the 2017-18 season and again re-injured it during the 2019-20 season.
