The 2023 NHL Winter Classic will be held in Boston at Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox of the MLB. The Bruins' opponent was just announced Wednesday morning.
It will be the second time the Bruins will play at Fenway Park, the first coming in 2010 when they hosted the Philadelphia Flyers.
NHL Insider Kevin Weekes broke the news on his Twitter.
Weekes reports that the Bruins will host the Pittsburgh Penguins on January 2nd, 2023.
Both Boston and Pittsburgh are no strangers to outdoor games, as this will be the Bruins' 5th appearance (2010, 2016, 2019, 2021) and the Penguin's 6th (2008, 2011, 2014, 2017, 2019).
Boston has an all-time record of 3-1-0 in outdoor games:
Philadelphia @ Boston: 2-1 OT Win (Fenway Park)
Montreal @ Boston: 5-1 Loss (Gillette Stadium)
Boston @ Chicago: 4-2 Win (Notre Dame Stadium)
Philadelphia @ Boston: 7-3 Win (Lake Tahoe)
