The Carolina Hurricanes announced some tough news tonight, as one of their top players has been listed as 'out indefinitely'' after he suffered a knee injury on Saturday.

As per the Hurricanes PR:

'' Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that forward Andrei Svechnikov will be out indefinitely after suffering a right knee injury on Saturday night against the Vegas Golden Knights in Raleigh.''

Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman shared more news regarding Svechnikov's injury:

'Hearing Carolina is waiting for a second opinion on Andrei Svechnikov's injury. There's concern it's a torn ACL, which could end his season but the player and the Hurricanes are, understandably, waiting until all options exhausted. Hoping for the best.''

Svechnikov has been an impact player since breaking into the league at 18-years-old in the 2018-19 season. In 347 career games, the winger has registered 112 goals and 154 assists.

This season, the 22-year-old was on a career-high pace with 55 points in 64 games with the Hurricanes.

This is obviously terrible news for a Carolina team that will be looking to make a deep run in the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs.
