The Toronto Maple Leafs recently placed top defenseman Morgan Reilly on long-term injured reserve with a lower-body injury.
He joins other NHL regulars from the backend in T.J. Brodie and Jake Muzzin, who are also out for an extended amount of time. However, general manager Kyle Dubas has swung a deal with the Arizona Coyotes for some help with his depleted defense.
As per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman:
The Maple Leafs acquired defenseman Conor Timmins from the Coyotes in exchange for forward Curtis Douglas.
Douglas was drafted in the fourth round (106th overall) by the Dallas Stars in 2018. He has one assist in 13 games in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies this season.
Timmins was originally selected in the first round (32nd overall) by the Colorado Avalanche at the 2017 draft. He was the focal point in the trade that sent Darcy Kuemper from Arizona to Colorado last summer.
