The trades keep rolling in across the NHL as the Edmonton Oilers have joined in on the fun and acquired Mattias Ekholm from the Nashville Predators.

Edmonton has been in search of a defensive defenseman and they finally got their guy but it came at a price. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman broke the trade first, along with the full details:

It's Ekholm and a sixth to EDM
To NASH it's Tyson Barrie, Reid Schaefer, a first this year and a fourth.

Ekholm, 32, has 5 goals and 13 assists in 57 games for the Predators this season. The veteran is in the first year of a four-year contract that pays him $6.25 million annually, and according to Pierre LeBrun, Nashville is retaining an oddly low percentage of it:

''Predators retain four percent of Ekholm remaining cap hit/salary.''

In return, Nashville received veteran Tyson Barrie, 31, an offensive defender who has turned into one of the best powerplay quarterbacks during his time with the Oilers. He currently has 10 goals and 33 assists in 61 games with Edmonton this season (28 points on the PP).
