BREAKING: Police Are Now Investigating The Death Of Former NHL Player

South Yorkshire Police in England have officially initiated an investigation into the unfortunate passing of former NHL player Adam Johnson.

They confirmed this development through a statement, which included the following details:

"We were alerted to an incident during a Sheffield Steelers versus Nottingham Panthers game at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield, where a player suffered serious injuries.

Our officers, along with other emergency services, responded to the scene, and a man in his 20s was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Tragically, he was later pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Our officers are currently on-site conducting inquiries, and our investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing," as reported by Sky Sports.

The incident leading to Adam Johnson's passing occurred during a game between his team, the Nottingham Panthers, and the Sheffield Steelers.

Johnson suffered a severe injury when he was struck in the throat by a skate following a collision with former OHL and AHL forward Matt Petgrave.

Tributes for Johnson have poured in from across the hockey world, including his former teams such as the Pittsburgh Penguins, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Lehigh Valley Phantoms, Malmo Redhawks, and the Augsburg Panthers.
