Sunday marked a somber day for the hockey community as it continued to grieve the loss of former NHL player Adam Johnson.

As many are aware, Johnson tragically passed away due to a freak accident during an EIHL game in England on Saturday.

Throughout Sunday, tributes poured in from all corners of the hockey world, including Johnson's former teams. The AHL's Ontario Reign, following their victory over the Abbotsford Canucks, paid a heartfelt tribute to Johnson. In a poignant gesture, they named him the first star of the night and, as a team, returned to the ice to place his jersey on a stool at center ice.

"The @ontarioreign honored Adam Johnson with the 1st star Sunday night. Johnson spent parts of 2 seasons with the Reign."

Adam Johnson had a notable presence with the Ontario Reign, featuring in 42 games between the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons after his return from Sweden.

Our heartfelt thoughts and condolences remain with Adam Johnson's family and friends during this difficult time.
