The Boston Bruins are coming off a tight 3-2 win against the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night and look to keep it rolling against the Edmonton Oilers tonight at TD Bank.
It's been a bit of a roller coaster week for Taylor Hall.
After serving as an alternate captain in the B's loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs where he registered a power play goal and four shots on net, he found himself riding the pine on Tuesday.
Head coach Bruce Cassidy sent the forward a clear message with a third period benching during the Sens game and replaced Hall withJake DeBrusk on the second line.
A move that speaks volumes considering how DeBrusk has fallen out of favour with Cassidy over the last year.
"Turnovers at the blue line when you have the lead in the third," Cassidy said when asked about DeBrusk taking over for Hall. "We're all trying to buy into, Play behind their D unless you have a free pass to get through there.' It's just winning hockey. You want to play late in games, you've got to play winning hockey. It doesn't matter who you are on the team. He got away from that."
"We took some offensive-zone penalties in the third period that were bad," Cassidy said, referring to Hall's hooking and Jack Studnicka's tripping. "You're in that type of game, now the temperature's up, you've got some emotion, now you're killing penalties again on kind of lazy plays. We've got to get those out of our game, take hard penalties." What do you think of Cassidy's comments?
